Design and Technology (DT)
Design and Technology (DT) is an exciting and hands-on subject where children are encouraged to become imaginative problem-solvers and innovative thinkers. Our DT curriculum provides opportunities for pupils to design, make, and evaluate products with a clear purpose, using a range of tools, materials, and techniques.
We track the knowledge and skills taught in DT through our Key Knowledge Progression Documents (KKPDs). These documents help us plan for the specific knowledge required in each year group and ensure that our curriculum is carefully sequenced. This allows children to build on prior learning, develop technical understanding, and apply their knowledge in increasingly sophisticated ways.
From exploring mechanisms and structures to learning about food and nutrition, our pupils are supported to think critically, work collaboratively, and reflect on their creations. Our aim is to empower every child to see themselves as designers and makers, capable of shaping the world around them.
