Physical Education (PE)

Physical Education (PE) is a vital part of our curriculum, promoting not only physical development but also teamwork, resilience, and a lifelong love of movement. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to enjoy being active, develop their physical skills, and understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Our PE curriculum is broad, inclusive, and engaging, offering a wide range of activities that support the development of fundamental movement skills such as agility, balance, and coordination. Children take part in games, dance, gymnastics, athletics, and outdoor activities, all tailored to be age-appropriate and accessible to all learners.

We track the knowledge and skills taught in PE through our Key Knowledge Progression Documents (KKPDs). These documents ensure that we plan for the specific physical and conceptual knowledge required in each year group and that our curriculum is carefully sequenced. This allows children to build on prior learning, refine their techniques, and grow in confidence and competence over time.

In addition to developing physical skills, our PE curriculum supports children’s social and emotional wellbeing. Through structured activities and team games, pupils learn about cooperation, fairness, perseverance, and respect. We also promote healthy competition and celebrate personal achievements, helping children to set goals and take pride in their progress.

Our aim is to inspire every child to enjoy being active and to understand the value of physical health and wellbeing as part of a balanced lifestyle.
